Collaboration with New Orleans sculptor Edouard Crago in bringing his sculptural work into the realm of motion-based narrative. His sculptures involve the creation of dioramas of genetically spliced, enhanced, altered and combined forms of new patented life.

The video “hummingbug” pulls from the artist’s vision of a large genetic research and patenting corporation creating life forms for clients in the defense, research and security industries. Some of the organization’s research has “leaked” in the form of at large newly-invented life forms. One of these is a flying cross-breed (thought to involve several aggressive species of hard-shell beetle and the common hummingbird). The narrative involves raw footage filmed on a cellphone by curious hikers along the southernmost shores of lake Michigan.

This event also marked a unique first collaboration, building bridges between Notre Dame’s College of Science DVT and the Department of Art, Art History and Design.
